Sustainable Capital Project Development

Sustainable Capital  Development Projects

Public universities in Africa  21st-century classrooms, living quarters, highly equipped laboratories and libraries. Fast broadband internet connectivity for teaching, learning, and research have become indispensable. Functioning Libraries with access to the most recent book editions and research journals are critical to learning and teaching today. Sustainable round-the-clock energy supply is needed to run state-of-the-art research labs, undertake online training and facilitate global development networking on campuses.

The operating budgets of many, if not all public universities in Africa cannot challenge these types of capital-intensive projects. Instead, existing facilities are deteriorating because of the wear and tear associated with overcrowding. These, coupled with declining environmental services are unsustainable.

AUF raises donor funds to support to member universities undertake capital-intensive development projects that can dramatically update them to 21-century university campuses for high skills-oriented teaching and learning environments.
